PENTASA (mesalazine)  Slow Release Tablets 500 mg

Product Description:

PENTASA (mesalazine) is Ferring’s product used for the treatment and long-term management of Inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) (Ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease).

PENTASA tablets contain mesalazine in a specialized multi-matrix preparation for sustained release in the GI tract from the duodenum to the rectum.

Uses:

PENTASA (mesalazine) is prescribed to treat the mild to moderate symptoms of active IBD as well as being used widely as maintenance therapy to reduce the risk of recurrent attacks.

Usual oral dose:

Active disease: 4 grams as a single dose or in two divided doses,

Maintenance:

2 grams as a single dose or in two divided doses.

Pentasa Tablets can be dispersed in water for ease of administration.

Presentation:

Box of tablets x 100 (500 mg)

PENTASA (mesalazine) Sachet 2 grams

Product Description: 

Each PENTASA Sachet contains mesalazine in specialized multi-matrix granules for sustained release in the GI tract from the duodenum to the rectum.

Usual oral dose:

Active disease: 4 grams as a single dose or in two divided doses,

Maintenance:

2 grams as a single dose or in two divided doses.

Presentation:

Box of sachets x 60 (2 g)

  PENTASA (mesalazine) Suppository 1 gram

Product Description:

PENTASA Suppository contains mesalazine in a sustained-release preparation for topical treatment of proctitis due to IBD or other causes responsive to mesalazine.

Usual dose:

1 suppository PR daily

Presentation:

Box of suppositories x 14 (1 g)

PENTASA (mesalazine) Enema 1 g / 100 ml

Uses:

PENTASA (mesalazine) Enema is indicated for the treatment of ulcerative colitis affecting the distal colon and rectum. PENTASA Enema releases the active ingredient mesalazine which then acts locally to reduce the inflammation and help relieve or stop the pain.

Usual Dose: 

1 enema PR Daily
